Facilities

GLHS Complex Thanks to our community’s support our buildings have all been recently built or re-modeled. We take very seriously our responsibility to provide funding to keep them properly maintained in the future. All classroom areas are climate-controlled to enhance the learning environment.

School Finances

A stable fund equity allows us to maintain our academic programming and cash flow from year to year without requiring us to borrow money for operations, while allowing us to secure a solid “rainy day fund” in the event of an unforeseen emergency purchase.

Kindergartener on iPad Technology and Our "1:1 Initiative"
Grass Lake Community Schools has embarked on the utilization of $1.89 million in grant money to provide computing devices for all Grass Lake Kindergarten through 12th grade students. This allows each of our students the freedom to access the Internet, which includes individual and cohort learning processes, as well as better communication with parents through the learning management system, Schoology. To accommodate this expanded use of our network, we have gone to great lengths to upgrade our technical infrastructure to allow for unimpeded use of the devices each of our students now use.

Student Advancement

We continue our relationships with area colleges and universities to offer our High School students opportunities to dual enroll and earn college credits while in high school, with also the options of enrolling in Advanced Placement classes and a multitude of optional advancement classes through the online Michigan Virtual High School offerings and E2020. Many of our Middle School 8th graders move into Grass Lake High School with High School credits in Math and Spanish. Grass Lake High School and Jackson County schools are working together to help students go to Jackson College (for up to 60 credits = 2 years) tuition free to families. Go to https://bit.ly/2pIwgLQ to learn more about opportunities with the Jackson County Early College.

LW Kids Preschool and Child Care

Our Little Warriors PreSchool and Child Care has proven to be very successful as we care for children ages 12 months to 12 years old in our pre-school, latchkey, and daycare programs. Little Warriors also employs the Great Start Readiness Programfor preschoolers.

Student Support and Extra-Curricular Activities

We are confident in our abilities to implement new programs, including our cooperative efforts with Jackson County’s “Energizing Education”, our implementation of “The Leader in Me” program in our Elementary and Middle Schools, and our High School's "Ignition" mentoring program and advanced placement program, both providing multiple opportunities for individual student comfort and growth. We are also advancing our students' opportunities in STEM education (Science/Technology/Engineering/Math) with deeper curriculum integration and with after school programming, while also emphasizing the arts and manufacturing

Our fine arts program offerings have remained consistent while we continue to expand our offerings through intstrumental music, vocal music, visual arts, and the performing arts. We are fortunate to have a beautiful 380 seat auditorium in which we perform.
